squusz pretty quiet acrosses most of the bay area but a lot of active stormy weather well to the north and some of it now working its way into the bay area. of course it has an area of rainfall. wide path of it up in mendocino county in ukiah and points north and extending offshore and down around healdsburg. a little interesting looking cell there. no doubt producing some heavy downpour in that area and up around clover dale as well. between there and winds or basically where this is and dumping rainfall on highway 10 101. moving generally in our direction. could be local heavy downpour as the system takes shape and cover more parts of the bay area late tonight overnight hours. could even be some thunderstorms on the way but will this have any effect on game one of the world series tomorrow at at&t park. give you a look at that a little bit later. >> that's the question. thanks very much. >> there is excitement tonight among skiers, snowboarders and

called 911. the suspect is hispanic in mid 20's. 5 foot 10. dark clothing and dark baseball cap. happened october 16 at around 8:00 p.m. mean time police are searching for band of thieves who tried to steal a truck load of computer chips. investigators say the bandit and 2 cars trailed a truck carrying 170,000 dollars worth of chips from san jose to south san francisco yesterday. they tried to rob it at stop on grand avenue. but the truck driver father also in another vehicle intervened. the thieves fled leaving one of the guys behind. he was arrested. police say the other alleged thieves escaped in a gold dodge caravan with possible california license plate of 6 v o one y 107. what it ford explorer with california plate of this number on the screen. manufacturing on. apple unveiled the new i-pad mini today as expected. along with

the fact apple unveiled fourth generation full size i-pad with faster chip. apple says they will start taking on line orders for the new i-pad mini on friday. in san jose, david louie abc 7 news. >> well apple wall street is giving apple a mixed review tonight. stock was down at the opening bell and fell even further once the i-pad mini was announced. apple finished minus 20 dollars a share today. exceeded its 50,000 dollar fundraising goal in a matter of hours. it is called my motel 0and it's a small wearable camera designed to snap a photo every 30 seconds then sink with app to organize the pictures that an easily accessible digital diary. idea is people don't realize a moment was special until long after the fact. so wouldn't it be nice the idea guess to record pretty much everything? just in case. concept is called life logging. it's not new but they may most practical application of it to date.

>> over the past week we have seen the biggest drop in gas prices in 4 years. gallon of gas costs you 12 cents less than last woke and praises expected to keep falling. analyst say it's because summer driving season is over and stations switched to winter blend fuel that are more efficient. gallon of gas cost 3.68 and there's one here selling for 3.39 on willow pass road by the way. most stations in the bay area will charge you about 1 dollar more. oakland san jose or santa rosa you will pay on average 4.38 a gallon. in san francisco gas is slightly more expensive at 4.49 a gallon.

well soon the united states could be the world biggest producer of oil. at the current production at pace the u.s. will pass saudi arabia in 2020 as the top producer. the reason? u.s. has developed a new controversial technique called infrastructureing pumping water sand chemical natural earth and squeezes out oil. scientist say could it ruin land and endanger drinking water however it has helped the u.s. use less foreign oil. that does not mean the u.s. is free of oil import of course. this year the u.s. will produce 1 10.9 million barrels of oil a day certainly a lot. but keep in mind americans consume 18.7 million barrels of oil every day. right now still up in mendocino just beginning to hit the northern edge of sonoma county. on its way down into the main part of the bay area. over in the sierra where the snow from last night and this morning taper off in the daytime hours and expected to redevelop during the overnight hours tonight but at the moment things pretty quiet there. here in the bay area right now. temperature readings generally in the low to mid 50's. pretty much yawn form range of current temperature readings and forecast feature we see showers tonight and there's chance of some isolated thunder. scattered showers tomorrow tapering off later in the day which guess news for game one of the world series. milder pattern settle in for this weekend. satellite radar composite image shows approaching storm system up in the pacific northwest. this will bring our next wave of showers as a matter of fact they are approaching us right now so let's start our forecast animation at 11:00 o'clock tonight. at which point we should see some shower activity certainly up in the north bay and during the overnight hours we see pockets and lines and
